September 2007. The longest month. On September 30th, 2007, my brother, Robert Silberman, was laid to rest after an 18-month battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma. These images are the first response I made after his death. Photographing the “accessories” to Bobby's cancer was an attempt to make sense of and give order to a time and an experience that made no sense and had no order.
